San Diego, CA – Automation Trainer, LLC, a biotechnology company headquartered in Sacramento, California, with operations in San Diego, is thrilled to announce the commercial launch of the GLH Smart-Cart, an AI-powered, self-navigating quality control platform designed to revolutionize laboratory automation. Developed in collaboration with MSI and Telamon Robotics, this cutting-edge product enhances the efficiency and precision of automated liquid handling systems.
The GLH (Good Liquid Handling) Smart-Cart formerly referred to as the GLH Smart-Cart in its initial implementations autonomously visits islands of automated liquid handlers, performing critical tasks such as scheduling and evaluating service needs, testing dispensing performance, and recommending optimized settings based on machine learning insights. By combining advanced scheduling software, robotics, calibration kits, and data analytics, the platform delivers a robust solution to enhance testing accuracy, throughput, and operational efficiency in laboratories worldwide. The GLH Smart-Cart serves as a platform for many life science applications where islands of automation need integration.
Available for Beta Testing
The GLH Smart-Cart will debut at SLAS2025 in San Diego, where attendees can explore its features and participate in limited beta testing. This milestone follows the successful unveiling of a manually operated cart version at Pittcon 2024, also held in San Diego.
Addressing Industry Challenges
Historically, quality control systems relied on manual testing by technicians, which introduced human error and required specialized knowledge. While robotic arms have replaced manual pipetting in many applications, they have not adequately addressed testing liquid handlers. The GLH Smart-Cart bridges this gap by offering:
- Versatile Volume Verification: Supports single-dye method and future support of dual-dye, fluorescence, and gravimetric methods, tailored for multi-channel testing, environmental variability, and scalability.
- AI-Driven Optimization: Uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to evaluate performance and recommend adjustments to ensure consistent and reliable results*
- On-Deck and Off-Deck Testing: Features a flexible design for volumetric verification and calibration directly on or off the deck of automated liquid handlers (ALHs).
Innovative Features and Functionality
The GLH Smart-Cart integrates seamlessly with diverse laboratory environments. Key features include:
- Modular Design: Compatible with a wide range of liquid handler robot decks, robotic arms, grippers, readers, and microplate scales.
- Open Communication Standards: Utilizes SiLA for interoperability among laboratory instruments, with support for additional programming protocols.
- Performance Testing Library: A comprehensive database of testing methods to control and optimize various liquid handlers and absorbance readers.
- Predictive Maintenance: Assess and recommend maintenance schedules, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
