PITTCON 2018 Conferee Network Session

ISO and NIST requirements for volume verification, validation, and Calibration of Automated Liquid Handling and Pipetting Systems

This event will focus primarily on evolving subject of ISO and NIST standards in the field of automated liquid handling and pipetting (ALH). We hope to generate discussion about the current state and future of volume verification, validation, optimization, and calibration standards. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published standards for liquid handling, but the responsibility of applying these guidelines to the operation of ALHs rests on individual labs. Different real world applications demand different levels of precision and accuracy, and understanding these reproducibility targets is critical for designing standardized methods. Developments in relevant ISO standards including IWA15:2015 will be discussed and connected back to the real world applications for which they were designed.
